【Course Objectives】

To explore the role of music in shaping society
To see how musicians speak across boundaries of class, background, and time to inspire personal and social, legal, and political reform
To consider how music may help bring peace, healing, unity, and hope to our fractured world.

【Course Contents】

This class introduces music that shapes our world.
We listen to and discuss songs and their meaning for our life and society.
We experience music through videos and live music/guest musicians in class.
Students write reflections on the music and topics covered in class.
Students write a final reflection paper after the last class.
