This seminar aims to give the students the ability to analyze systematically various issues in international politics.
The international politics is ”anarchic state of nature” and so-called world government does not exist. Although the unlawful use of force by states beyond the scope of self-defense is questioned on a case-by-case basis, there is no coercive authority or institution capable of completely putting a stop to it. What is war, and what is peace? How can peace be realized, and how can the international community work toward a better world?
In this seminar students will gain a comprehensive understanding of international politics and acquire a wide knowledge of war and peace through case studies by taking up various issues.
Students will be assigned chapters in the textbook to present reports. After the report has been presented, the faculty member will add an explanation followed by a discussion among all the students based on the "preparatory notes" submitted by the students.

毎回のテキスト輪読に際して演習で扱う章を事前に通読し、コメントや疑問点、演習で議論したい論点などを整理した「準備メモ」（コメントカード）を作成し、事前に提出してもらう。
各回のテーマに関する情報を事前に収集し、参考文献として挙げられている文献などに目を通しておく。また、世界情勢を把握するため、国際ニュースなどもこまめにチェックしておくこと。授業では事例研究を行うので、各自で各回のテーマに関連する事例を考える。

日頃から積極的に国際情勢に疑問や関心を持つこと。
演習のレジュメはCanvas LMSにアップロードして配付する。「準備メモ」（コメントカード）もGoogle Classroomなどを活用して提出してもらうので、演習中に参照できる電子機器が必要となる。レジュメやコメントカードなどは各自で印刷出力して紙媒体で活用してもよいし、コンピューターやタブレットなどを利用してデジタルにノートテイキングをしてもよい。演習中にも電子機器の使用により資料などを閲覧したり、最新の国際情勢などを検索したりする。
演習での議論では、自由闊達かつ柔軟な視点が重要なので、積極的に自分の考えを発言して議論を盛り上げてほしい。
本演習では国際政治における様々な問題を体系的に分析できる力を身につけることを狙いとする。
This seminar aims to give the students the ability to analyze systematically various issues in international politics.
国際政治は「アナーキー」であり、世界政府などは存在しない。自衛権を超える国家の違法な武力行使について各事例で問題になりながらも、それを完全の止めることの強制力は存在しない。戦争とは何か、平和とはなにか？そして平和を求めて、よりよい世界にすればどうすればよいか？
本演習では、国際政治における様々な問題を取り上げることで、国際政治を包括的に捉えながら、事例研究を通して戦争と平和への理解を深める。
受講生には報告を担当してもらうテキストの章を割り当て、担当者の報告のあと教員が解説を加えてから、受講生が提出する「準備メモ」（コメントカード）をもとに全体で議論をする。
