There has been increasing recognition of the political ramifications of climate change in our time. Does climate change contribute to social instability?
This seminar explores the intersection of climate change and political science by engaging with recent research on how climate-related impacts affect existing political systems and social structures. By examining both theoretical debates at the global-level theoretical debates and regionally case-based studies——including those from the Global South——the course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of key issues and challenges in this field.
In this seminar, students will participate in a rotating system of reading and discussion based on assigned texts. Each session will feature designated presenters, who will provide a comprehensive summary of the readings, while the rest of the class will be required to submit a short comment paper prior to each session.
Discussions focus on the key issues and questions raised by the presenters and the submitted comment papers. Students may be divided into smaller groups to facilitate more in-depth discussion.
Group work will be organized based on students' individual interests, and each group will give a presentation.
Finally, students are required to submit a final report.

気候変動は政治のあり方に影響を与えるか。それはどのようにしてか。気候変動によって社会は不安定化するのか。
本演習では、気候変動が政治システムや社会構造に与える影響、に関する近年の研究論文を取り上げ、気候変動と政治学の接点を探る。加えて、グローバルなレベルでの理論的な議論と、グローバル・サウスと呼ばれる地域の状況からの具体的事例を検討することで、この分野における重要な問題と課題について視野を深めたい。

本演習では、指定された文献を輪読しながら各テーマについて討論する。報告担当者はテキストの要約報告および論点の提出を行う。それ以外の受講生は、事前にコメント・ペーパー（400字程度）を提出する。
各回、コメント・ペーパーや報告者の論点などの問題提起を踏まえ、全体討論を行う。詳細な議論と分析を促すため、必要に応じて小グループに分かれて討論することもある。
授業後半では、個々の学生の関心に応じてグループワークを行い、最終日にグループ報告を行う予定である。
最終的に、個々人の研究レポートを提出する。
