The aim of this course is to familiarize students with Italian language, culture, religion, and history through the study of Italian art. Students will deepen their knowledge of important themes and keywords in the history of art and culture.
Italy has long been a center of art and culture in the history of European culture, as evidenced by the fact that Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael, the three great masters of Western art, all came from the Italian peninsula during the Renaissance. By learning about the works of art from different periods, students can deepen their understanding of Italian culture and language. This lecture will begin with an introduction to the major Italian cities and their representative artists. Then we will focus on one important theme from each of the fields of Christianity, Classical Mythology, and Allegory in each lecture. Students will learn how to appreciate and read by researching the original titles of works of art and artists’ names in Italian, as well as by deepening their knowledge of stories and iconography.

復習（30-60分）：講義で扱ったテーマについて図書館で文献をあたり、ネットで検索してみるなど各自で学びを深め、小レポートの作成に役立てる。

美術史と文化史を学ぶうえで重要なテーマやキーワードを知り、知識を深める。
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with Italian language, culture, religion, and history through the study of Italian art. Students will deepen their knowledge of important themes and keywords in the history of art and culture.
西洋美術の三大巨匠とされるレオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチ、ミケランジェロ、ラファエロがすべてルネサンス期のイタリア半島から出たことからも分かるように、ヨーロッパ文化史においてイタリアは長らく芸術発信地でした。いろいろな時代の美術作品を知ることで、イタリアの文化とことばへの理解を深めることができます。本講義では、はじめに、イタリアの主要な都市と代表的な芸術家を紹介します。そのうえで、キリスト教、古典神話、寓意擬人像の各分野から重要なテーマを毎回１つずつとりあげ、美術作品の題名や芸術家のイタリア語表記を調べたり、物語や図像の知識を深めたりすることで、鑑賞と読解の方法を学びます。
