We will examine the unique culture of the German-speaking world from the multiple perspectives of cities, religion, and media, from 16th century to the 20th century..
Germany, located in the center of Europe, has gone through a long history and various historical events before becoming its present form as the leading country in the European economy. On the other hand, Austria and Prague, which were the proud centers of the Hapsburg Empire, have also formed their own cultures. The course will examine the culture and history of German-speaking countries, each with a different face, from the themes of cities, religion, war, and media.

近代から20世紀までのドイツ語圏の文化を、都市、宗教、童話、メディアなど多角的な観点から検証する。
We will examine the unique culture of the German-speaking world from the multiple perspectives of cities, religion, and media, from 16th century to the 20th century..
ヨーロッパの中心に位置し、ヨーロッパ経済をリードする国・ドイツが現在の形になるまでには、長い時代と様々な歴史的事件を経てきました。ハプスブルク帝国の中心として栄華を誇ったオーストリアやプラハも、現在まで独自の文化を形成しています。講義では、それぞれに異なる表情を持つドイツ語圏の国々の文化を、都市、宗教、文学作品や映像など、様々な観点から検証していきます。取り上げる文献についてのディスカッションも適宜取り入れていきたいと思います。
