The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge about the characteristics of global history, which is conceived as something different from general histories such as regional or national histories. We will also present the results of global history, which is not limited to a particular region, and consider its significance and limitations.
In recent years, the perspective of global history has been attracting attention as something different from traditional historiography such as national history or regional history. In this class, we will examine the methods and narratives of global history, specifically examining the history of the British Empire, and will consider the advantages and challenges of global history.

多彩な学び科目
地域史や国民史の通史とは異なるものとして構想されたグローバル・ヒストリーの特徴について基礎知識の習得を目指す。また、地域に限定されないグローバル・ヒストリーの成果を提示し、その意義や限界について考える。
The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge about the characteristics of global history, which is conceived as something different from general histories such as regional or national histories. 近年グローバル・ヒストリーの視角は、一国史や地域史のような従来の歴史学と異なるものとして注目されるようになってきた。本授業では、その方法や叙述について、具体的にイギリス帝国の歴史を考察するなかでグローバル・ヒストリーの利点や課題について検討してゆく。
