By grasping the actual situation and transformation of postwar Japanese society, you will not only understand the historical origins and transformation process of various events in Japanese society, but also analyze current issues in Japan from perspective of history.
Postwar Japanese society has changed at a dizzying pace, from the recovery of the defeat to the high economic growth, the bubble economy, and the Heisei depression, and it is still in the midst of change. In the process, it may fade from people's memories, and nowadays, in many cases, not even a trace of them remains. In this lecture, it will outline various matters and processes of transformation that occurred in postwar Japanese society with recent research results, such as war orphans, mass employment, trendiness of Showa nostalgia, etc.

2) If you have never taken a lecture related to Japanese history, please read an overview book of modern Japanese history, such as high school textbook.

戦後の日本社会の実態やその変容を把握することで、日本社会における多様な出来事の歴史的起源、およびその変遷過程を理解し、現在の日本の諸問題について歴史的観点からの分析ができるようになる。
By grasping the actual situation and transformation of postwar Japanese society, you will not only understand the historical origins and transformation process of various events in Japanese society, but also analyze current issues in Japan from perspective of history.
戦後の日本社会は敗戦の復興から高度経済成長、バブル経済、そして平成不況と、目まぐるしい速度で変化し、現在も変化の只中にある。その過程で人々の記憶から消え去り、現在ではその痕跡すら残されていないことが多い。本講義は戦争孤児や集団就職、昭和ノスタルジーブームなどの戦後日本社会で起きた出来事に注目し、その実態や変容を近年の研究成果に即して概説してゆく。
