東京はいかなる街としてつくられているのか。その歴史と現在について、渋谷や池袋、原宿や大久保、秋葉原といったさまざまな街、盛り場に展開される文化を焦点に置き、社会学的に考えることを目指す。主題となるのは、1970,80年代以降、東京という街ではいかなる夢が見られ、しかし押しつぶされてきたかである。
What kind of city is Tokyo? This course aims to think sociologically about the history and present of Tokyo, focusing on the culture that has developed in the various districts and entertainment areas of Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Harajuku, Okubo, Akihabara, and so on. The theme of the class will be what kind of dreams have been seen and shattered in the city of Tokyo since the 1970s and 1980s.
