The turning point in the history of Japan is a heavy defeat in World War II in 1945, and the one of USSR is Stalin's death in 1953. We will watch japanese movies before and after 1945 and russian ones before and after 1953. The aim of the lecture is for students to think for themselves about the social, historical and cultural differences between Japan and Russia by watching various movies before and after the turning points of their histories.
We will watch about 8 movies produced in Japan and USSR and examine each feature.

毎回出席はとらないが、授業で上映された映画を見ていることを前提に講義を行い、レポート試験を行うため、授業の出席は重要である点には注意。就活で不定期にしか出席できない者は、その点考慮の上受講すること。授業に欠席し見逃した映画については、DVD購入・レンタル等の手段を使って鑑賞しておくのが望ましい。

日本の歴史において大きな転換点となったのは1945年の第二次世界大戦の敗戦であり、ソ連の歴史において同様の大きな転換点となったのは1953年のスターリンの死である。それぞれの国の歴史の転換点の前後の映画を鑑賞し、歴史の転換点がそれぞれの国の映画にどのように反映したか、自分の頭で考え自覚的になることを目指す。
