・By learning about the origins and tenets of Islam, a central element of Middle Eastern culture, students will understand the underlying values that permeate the Islamic world
・Students will explore the linguistic characteristics of the Middle East and gain insight into the diverse religious and cultural practices unique to each area.
Many of you may not yet have a clear image of what the "Middle East" entails. However, this region is a crossroads of diverse and rich cultures, colored by unique religion, art, and literature. In this course, we will explore the cultural background of the region by studying the origins and doctrines of Islam—an essential element for understanding the Middle East. Furthermore, while being introduced to major languages such as Arabic and Persian, students will learn about the diversity of religious practices and daily life that are deeply rooted in this region.

・中東の文化の中心的要素であるイスラームの成り立ちや教義を知ることで、イスラーム文化圏に通底する価値観を理解する。
・中東で話されている言語の特徴を知るとともに、各地域における宗教実践や文化の多様性を理解し、親しむ。

みなさんの多くは「中東」と聞いても、まだはっきりとしたイメージを持っていないかもしれません。しかしこの地域は、宗教や芸術、文学などに彩られた多様で豊かな文化の交差する世界です。本講義では、中東を語るうえで欠かすことのできないイスラームという宗教の成り立ちや教義にかんする学習を通して文化的背景を理解し、アラビア語やペルシア語などの中東の主要言語に触れながら、この地域に根づく宗教実践や日常文化の多様性を学びます。
