【Course Objectives】

This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of the concepts of peace and human rights, with a particular focus on human rights issues in Japan. Through interaction and discussion among students from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, the course encourages students to share perspectives on human rights issues in Japan in light of current global contexts. Students are expected to gather information and ideas from a range of relevant sources and to use critical thinking skills to compare and analyze various human rights issues in Japan and beyond.

【Course Contents】

Through presentations and discussions, students engage in learning by exchanging ideas with other course participants. At the end of the course, students are required to select one human rights issue as a final project, conduct relevant research, and deliver a presentation that incorporates their own perspectives.

Students need to attend 80% or more of the classes taught to earn a passing grade. Teachers will communicate with students and request assignment submissions through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Students should ensure they regularly check Canvas LMS for updates.
