In this course, we will sociologically and empirically explore the features of contemporary society by examining youth culture.
What kind of society do we live in today? We may be standing at a major "turning point". In particular, how do young people perceive this society, and how do they live within it? What impact are smartphones and social media having on them? How are their friendships and romantic relationships changing? What are their attitudes toward work and life? The lifestyles created by young people—including media usage, personal relationships, love and marriage, as well as attitudes toward labor and meritocracy—anticipate the characteristics of modern society. In this course, we will empirically explore the features of contemporary society by examining youth culture through survey data.

現代の若者文化を検討することを通じて、現代社会の特徴を社会学的かつ実証的に理解していくことを目指す。
In this course, we will sociologically and empirically explore the features of contemporary society by examining youth culture.
現代社会はどのような社会なのだろうか。私たちはどこか今、「曲がり角」を曲がろうとしているのかもしれない。なかでも特に、若者たちはこの社会をどのようにとらえ、どう生きているのか。スマホやＳＮＳはどのような影響をもたらしているのか。友人関係や恋愛関係はどう変化しているのか。働くことや生きることに対して、どのような意識を持っているのか。若者たちが作り出すライフスタイル――メディア利用、友人関係、恋愛や結婚、労働や能力主義――には、現代社会の特徴が先駆的に表れている。この講義では、こうした若者文化を、調査データから検討していくことを通じて現代社会の特徴を実証的に考えていく。
