"Dialogue" is one of the elements that service learning emphasizes. It is a key factor that can be regarded as the basic action of service learning, such as inner dialogue(reflection) and dialogue with people in conflict.
With the theme of peacebuilding, this course will examine the premise that "dialogue is important" from multiple perspectives and understand why the tool of dialogue is emphasized in peacebuilding.
Using the challenges of generative AI, which has been increasingly introduced in various fields in recent years, and automatic translation functions as subjects, students will rediscover the nature and potential of human dialogue. The class will review the role that dialogue has played on scales such as conflict prevention and conflict resolution, and learn about the potential of dialogue as a tool for peacebuilding. Through the course, students will look at local communities and within Japan to understand the factors that hinder mutual understanding, and to develop a perspective that will enable us to overcome these factors and become citizens who can practice quality dialogue.

本科目は、担当教員の実務経験、または実務に従事するゲスト・スピーカーの招聘講義等を活かした授業である。
本科目は立教サービスラーニング(RSL)科目群のひとつとして開講する。サービスラーニングによる学びが大切とする要素に「対話」がある。それは、自己との対話（省察）、現場の人々との対話など、サービスラーニングの基本動作ともいえる重要なキーワードである。
本講義では平和構築をテーマとして、「対話が大切である」という前提を多角的に考察し、なぜ平和構築において対話というツールが重視されるのかを理解する。

近年、様々な分野で導入が進んでいる生成型AIの課題や、自動翻訳機能などを題材に、人間の対話がどのような本質や可能性を持っているかを再発見する。その上で、紛争予防・紛争解決などのスケールで、対話が果たしてきた役割を振り返り、平和構築のツールとしての対話の可能性を学ぶ。授業の終盤では、地域社会や日本国内に目を向け、良質な対話を妨げる要因を理解するとともに、それらを乗り越えて対話を実践できる市民になるための視座を養う。
