To understand what the characteristics of contemporary society are through a focus on culture, and then to grasp the perspective of thinking about the problems that contemporary society experiences.
In this class, we will approach various contemporary cultural phenomena from the perspective of "culture to be questioned" and consider the changing world. Classes are mainly built on the concept of sociology. In the first place, sociology is a discipline that is strongly linked to the idea of culture, but in this class, we will consider culture that fluctuates while being deeply involved with trends in contemporary society , rather than historical or national culture.

文化への着眼を通して、現代社会の特質とは何かを理解し、そのうえで、現代社会が経験する問題群について考える視点をつかむことをこの授業では目標とします。

この授業では、「問われる文化」という視点から現代の多様な文化現象にアプローチし、文化について考え、理解することを通して得られる学びについて紹介する。授業は主に社会学の知見をもとにして組み立てられる。そもそも社会学は文化という考え方と強く結びついている学問だが、この授業では、歴史的、あるいは国単位の文化というよりもむしろ、環境問題や移民・難民、教育など、現代社会の動向と深くかかわりあいながら揺れ動く文化について考える。
