The purpose of this course is to understand what environmental issues are—one of the most serious problems facing human society today—and to consider these issues from an economic perspective. Students will learn about the relationship between the environment and the economy, as well as the basic concepts of environmental economics.
Using fundamental economic concepts, this course examines the relationship between the environment and the economy, as well as environmental problems as viewed from an economic perspective. It also covers the theory of externalities—a core idea in environmental economics—and environmental policy instruments based on it, such as environmental taxes and emissions trading.

本講義の目的は、現在、人間社会が抱える最も大きな問題の一つである環境問題とは何かを知り、さらにそれらの環境問題を経済学的に考えることである。環境と経済の関係性、および環境経済学の基本的な考え方について学ぶ。

経済学の基本的な考え方を用い、環境と経済の関係性、および経済の観点から見た環境問題について学ぶ。また、環境経済学の基本的な考え方である、外部性の理論およびそれを活用した環境税、排出権取引などの環境政策の手法について学ぶ。
