The course will help students to know various ideas on "meaning" in linguistics and non-linguistic fields, and think about meaning of words, expressions and messeages observable in the real life.
The teacher will give lectures on some theories on the structure and function of meaning in language, on the relation between language and understanding of things, etc..., and the students and the teacher will think together and discuss on examples of expressions and messages observable in our ordinary life. Students should also be expected to collect and bring examples to the class to express their opinion.

多彩な学び
≪意味≫に関する，言語学やそれ以外の色々な考え方を知り，生活世界に見られる言葉やメッセージの意味について考える思考力を養う。
The course will help students to know various ideas on "meaning" in linguistics and non-linguistic fields, and think about meaning of words, expressions and messeages observable in the real life.
言葉の意味の構造や機能，言葉と認識の関係などに関する色々な説を紹介しつつ，それらの観点から日常生活に見られる表現・メッセージなどの例について考えてみる。学生には，実例を授業に持ち寄って自らの見解を述べたり討論したりすることも期待される。
The teacher will give lectures on some theories on the structure and function of meaning in language, on the relation between language and understanding of things, etc..., and the students and the teacher will think together and discuss on examples of expressions and messages observable in our ordinary life.
