Peace education is an approach that deepens understanding of peace from multiple angles, including fundamental human rights, justice, conflict prevention, inner peace, and harmony with the global environment. This course aims to deepen understanding of peace education's role and potential through historical examples of wars and civil conflicts. Students will explore "conflicts" of various scales—from international armed disputes to local community and workplace clashes—through the lens of peace education. The goal is for each student to actively consider and take action on how they can contribute to peace in their daily lives.
This course focuses on a comparative analysis of peace education strategies in Japan and abroad, clarifying the diverse definitions and pedagogical methods in the field. Students will participate in collaborative projects to design peace education curricula and facilitate mock teaching sessions. This hands-on approach allows students to critically evaluate the efficacy and obstacles of peace education while developing a critical lens through which to view contemporary social and global issues.

多彩な学び科目
本科目は、担当教員の実務経験、または実務に従事するゲスト・スピーカーの招聘講義等を活かした授業である。
平和教育とは、基本的人権や正義、紛争予防といった要素に加え、人間ひとりひとりのInner Peace（=内なる平和）や、地球環境との調和と共生など多角的に平和について理解を深めるアプローチである。この授業では、平和教育の基礎を学ぶとともに、過去の戦争や内戦の事例から、平和教育の役割や可能性について理解を深める。国家間の武力紛争から、地域社会や職場などで起きる衝突まで、様々な規模の“conflict”を平和教育の視点で見つめ、学生ひとりひとりが日常生活において平和の担い手として何ができるかを積極的に考え、アクションを起こせるようになることをめざす。

日本と他国の平和教育のアプローチの違いを比較し、平和の定義や平和教育の手法について理解する。グループワークを通して平和教育の教材づくりや模擬授業をおこない、平和教育の役割や課題を理解するとともに、身の回りで起きている社会課題や地球規模課題に対する視点を養う。
