This course aims to help students understand the current state and issues of the world economy from the perspective of Latin America and the Caribbean and to understand its mechanism.
This course is for beginners in economics and international relations.
In this course, students will learn the basic knowledge necessary to understand the world economy, including the markets, societies, cultures and lifestyles of Latin America and the Caribbean.
This will help us to understand how this region is closely related to the world economy and Japan. We will also examine the problems of the world system as seen from the "Global South".

この地域は大西洋奴隷貿易といった歴史的な要因により、白人・アフリカ系・アジア系・先住民系の多様な文化が複雑に混ざりあった社会を形成している。
そのため履修にあたっては、歴史や異文化理解への興味・関心があることが求められる。
この地域の独特なあり様を視覚的にイメージできるように映画の一部や映像資料を積極的に活用する。
多彩な学び科目
この授業では、ラテンアメリカ・カリブ海世界の視座から見える世界経済の歴史や経済社会、文化の現状ならびに課題を学び、その仕組みを理解することが目標である。
なお、この授業は経済や国際関係の初学者を対象としている。

世界でもっともコントラスト（光と影、明暗の差異）の強烈な大陸、それがラテンアメリカ・カリブ海地域である。だが、地理的に遠いこともあり、この地域の歴史・社会・文化・経済について、知る機会はおおくない。
この授業では、この地域がいかに世界経済や私たちと密接にかかわっているかを理解するため、資料や動画を活用し、解説をおこなう。
それにより「グローバルサウス」の視点から見えてくる世界の姿や課題を考察する。
