備考/ NotesNotes |
Students will develop their understanding of how policy made at a global level, trickles down to influence outcomes at a local level. Students will also develop their academic skills in conducting research, writing a report, and presenting information in relation to human rights, the SDGs and social welfare in English.
The language of instruction and output in this course is English. However, students do not need to worry about their English ability. University entrance level English is adequate, and research can be conducted using Japanese or any other language.
This course begins by looking at the foundation of human rights: the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It then introduces the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and looks at how these goals aim to achieve the ideals embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Students will then focus in on a particular country and write a report explaining that country’s aims and effectiveness in reaching the SDG goals by 2030. Finally, students will present their findings to the class.
