Notes

【Course Objectives】

On completion of this course, the students will be able to: (a) have a grasp of the key themes and motifs in the speculative film genre and (b) think critically about characters, plots, and settings of speculative fiction films.

【Course Contents】

In this course we will on speculative science fiction films and examine how the convergence of ideas about culture and society, different worlds and worldviews, morality, technology, and environment is explored in such films. We will interrogate what these imaginings tell us about anxieties over and/or desire for diversity, globalization, and our overall future.
