Students will be able to understand and explain the significance and types of social surveys, as well as the basics of the processes from collecting materials and data to analyzing them.
This course provides an overview of the objectives and basic methodologies of social research. We categorize research methods such as quantitative and qualitative research, statistical research, and case study methods, and also explain the history of social research, specific examples, and research ethics. We also cover the process from data collection to analysis, including questionnaire surveys and fieldwork, and explain basic concepts.

社会調査の意義と諸類型および、資料やデータの収集から分析までの諸過程に関する基本的な事項について理解し、説明できるようになる。
Students will be able to understand and explain the significance and types of social surveys, as well as the basics of the processes from collecting materials and data to analyzing them.
社会調査の目的や基本的な方法論について概説する。量的調査と質的調査、統計的調査と事例研究法といった調査手法の類型を整理し、あわせて社会調査の歴史、具体的事例、調査倫理について解説する。さらに、調査票調査やフィールドワークなど、データの収集から分析までのプロセスについても取り上げ、基本的な考え方を解説する。
