The goal is to understand the relationship between Western music and the society that surrounds it in a historical context, and to be able to think about the state of the arts from multiple perspectives.
The position of music has diversified with changes in social conditions throughout the long history of people and music. Understanding the social nature of Western music also leads to learning about Western history, culture, and spirituality. From this perspective, each session of this class will consider music in the West from various perspectives across time periods and regions.

| インターネットの動画やDVD、CDを活用し、実際に様々な音楽を聴きます。また、必要に応じて担当教員が電子ピアノを使って解説を行います。 |
予習：各回の授業内容は次回以降へとつながっていくので、前回の内容を必ず確認してから授業に臨むこと(各回約２時間)
復習：配付資料やノートを見直し、理解を深め、知識の定着を図るよう努めること(各回約２時間)
また、音楽を対象とする授業なので、鑑賞経験を重ねることも重要です。大学図書館経由でアクセスできる音楽データベース「ナクソス・ミュージック・ライブラリー」や、大学図書館所蔵の視聴覚資料、ウェブなども活用しながら、様々な音楽に触れることも意識してみてください。

西洋音楽とそれを取り巻く社会との関係性を、歴史的な文脈の中で理解し、芸術のあり方について多角的に考えることができるようにすることを目指します。
The goal is to understand the relationship between Western music and the society that surrounds it in a historical context, and to be able to think about the state of the arts from multiple perspectives.
人と音楽との長い歴史の中で、音楽のあり方は社会情勢の変化とともに多様化してきました。西洋音楽の社会性を理解することは、ヨーロッパの歴史や文化、精神性を学ぶことにもつながっていきます。
そうした背景をもとに、この授業では、各回、時代や地域を超えた様々な切り口で、西洋における音楽について考えていきます。
