Among the 54 stories of "The Tale of Genji," this course aims to grasp the rough whole picture of the story from the Kiritsubo Volume to the Sakaki Volume and to give a taste of the beautiful original text.
We will quickly read through The Tale of Genji, from Kiritsubo to Sakaki, covering approximately one volume per lecture. Each lecture will first explain the plot of the volume, the relationships between characters, and key points for appreciation, before reading a famous scene from that volume in the original text and explaining it in detail.
Grammar ability and reading comprehension skills are required to read the original text.
In addition, because the world is completely different to today in terms of language, customs, culture, and values, it is necessary to set aside all existing values and be prepared to try to understand a different culture.

多彩な学び科目
『源氏物語』五十四帖のうち、桐壺巻から賢木巻までの物語の大まかな全体像をつかむとともに、美しい原文を味わうことを目指す。
Among the 54 stories of "The Tale of Genji," this course aims to grasp the rough whole picture of the story from the Kiritsubo Volume to the Sakaki Volume and to give a taste of the beautiful original text.
およそ一回の講義に一巻を取り上げるペースで、『源氏物語』の桐壺巻から賢木巻までの物語を駆け足で読んでいく。一回の講義では、まず、その巻のあらすじや人物関係や鑑賞の要点などを説明し、その後、その巻の名場面を原文で読み、詳しく解説していく。
原文を読むための文法力、読解力が求められる。
また、言葉や習慣や文化や価値観などが現代とは全く違う世界なので、皆が持っている価値観を一旦、白紙にして、異文化を理解しようとする心構えが必要である。
