Through analysis of literary texts and visual expressions, students develop the ability to examine human beings and aspects of society and culture.
This course will interpret literary texts and train students' ability to restructure the problems that the texts raise in their own words.
The subjects to be considered in this class are modern Japanese literature and films, or iconography such as magazine articles.
It considers how performers, especially female performers, have been represented among those objects.
The goal is to see and think about what problems might emerge.

文学テキストや映像・図像等の分析を通して、そこに描かれる社会や文化の諸側面といった人間の営みそのものを考察する能力を養う。文学テキスト等の表象を解釈し、そのテキストが投げかけている問題を自らの言葉で構成する能力を涵養する。

この授業では近代日本の文学作品と映画、あるいは雑誌記事などの図像を検討の対象としつつ、演技をする者、とりわけ女性の演者がいかに表象されてきたかを考察する。そこにどのような問題が浮上するかを見定め、思考することを目標としている。
