Deepen understanding of Western music culture through vocal music and opera
Vocal music and opera occupy important positions in Western music. Song, which existed with the emergence of music, and opera, which is an integration of music, drama, dance, and art, continue to be created and performed up to the present day. This lecture will focus on representative works of religious vocal music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and opera that emerged in the Baroque era, and will consider their musical characteristics and the development of vocal music in each era in the context of Western music culture.

西洋音楽における声楽曲、歌劇を通し、音楽文化への理解を深める
Deepen understanding of Western music culture through vocal music and opera
西洋音楽において声楽曲、歌劇は重要な位置を占めている。音楽の発生とともに存在した歌や、音楽・演劇・踊り・美術などの統合された歌劇（オペラ）は、現代に至るまで創作、演奏され続けている。この講義では中世・ルネサンス時代の宗教声楽曲から、バロック時代に登場しその後数多く作られた歌劇の中から代表作を取り上げ、それらの音楽的特徴や各時代における声楽曲の展開などを西洋音楽文化の中で考察する。
