Learn about various ways of practicing music through examples, and broaden students' perspectives on music.
The‘early music movement'or‘early music revival' refers to an effort, mainly in the field of Western classical music, to understand and reproduce music using the instruments and performance practices that were in use when the works were originally created, and it can be said to have become particularly prominent since the mid-20th century. In this class, we will study this movement, review how Western culture since modern times has engaged with historical music, and lead into a consideration of the possibilities for early music in the future musical landscape.

Learn about various ways of practicing music through examples, and broaden students' perspectives on music.
「古楽運動」とは、おもに西洋クラシック音楽の分野において作品が生み出された当時の楽器と奏法によって音楽を理解・再現しようとする運動を指し、とりわけ20世紀半ば以降に顕著となったといえる。本授業ではこの運動について学ぶとともに、近代以降の西洋文化が過去の音楽といかに対峙してきたかを概観し、今後の音楽環境における古楽の可能性についての考察へとつなげる。
