We will consider Noh as a physical technique of "reading aloud" and experiment with "artistic thinking" through the theater of Noh. We will explore what words are spoken in Noh, how they are spoken, and what is achieved through them.
The course will be in the form of a lecture, incorporating video viewing, workshops and discussions.
In Noh, lyrics (words/song) and the body (body/objects) intersect to create a unique, multi-layered theatrical structure. Rather than grasping the theatrical style of Noh as such, the course will explore the expressive techniques that bring about the style, based on concrete expressions in individual works, particularly Shura Noh.

多彩な学び
本科目は、担当教員の実務経験、または実務に従事するゲスト・スピーカーの招聘講義等を活かした授業である。
能を「音読」の身体技法として捉え、能という演劇による「藝能的思考」を実験する。能では、どのような言葉が、どのようにして発せられ、それによって何が実現しているかを探求しよう。

映像による鑑賞、ワークショップやディスカションも交えて、講義形式で行う。
能では詞章（ことば・うた）と身体（肉体、物体）が交差して、独特の多層的な劇構造を立ちあがっている。能という演劇様式の把握ではなく、様式をもたらす表現技法のありようを、個々の作品、特に修羅能について、具体的な表現を踏まえて探ってゆく。
