By understanding how various organisms, including humans, work, students will be able to take a scientific look at familiar life phenomena.
This course provides an overview of the "mechanisms" common to all living organisms and unique to each organism, and on the basis of this understanding, explains the mechanisms and significance of life phenomena in and around us. Students should come to class with an awareness of the problems of life phenomena and an attitude of trying to understand them logically.

本授業の目的は役に立つ知識の伝授ではない。生命現象に関する専門用語を単に暗記するのではなく、その意味することを論理的に正しく理解することが望まれる。授業では受講者への質問も活発に行う予定なので，積極的な受講態度が期待される。
ヒトを含む様々な生物のしくみを理解することにより、生命現象を科学的にとらえることができるようになる。

生物共通のあるいは各生物特有の「しくみ」について概説し、その理解の上に、私たち自身及び私たちの周りの生命現象に関して、その機構や意義を解説する。生命現象に対して問題意識を持ち、それを論理的にとらえようとする姿勢で授業に臨んでほしい。
