This course focuses on global and Japanese environmental issues through the concepts of environmental education and ESD. Students explore the historical development of environmental education, international frameworks such as the MDGs, SDGs, and COP, as well as major environmental challenges, including climate change, pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. Through case studies, qualitative analysis of news articles and academic sources, group discussions, and presentations, students analyze the causes of these issues and possible solutions, and consider the relationship between human life and a sustainable society.

Students are expected to engage in the following activities outside of class:
・Preparation and review of lecture materials
・Reading and qualitative analysis of news and articles
・Team collaboration in preparation for group discussions and presentations
・Reflection on the relationship between course content and daily life and activities outside the classroom
Additional required study and assignments will be announced during the course.
Students are required to check the syllabus and prepare consistently. Preparation should take approximately 120 minutes before each class session.
During class, students should take notes and make connections to the next class. After class, students should deepen their understanding by reviewing the class content, reading newspaper articles, watching related videos, and reading books introduced during class, as well as asking questions to the teacher. Students are expected to spend approximately 120 minutes reviewing after each class session.
