Notes

【Course Objectives】

A variety of life skills that people have found and passed down for living, and social mechanisms based on equality and cooperation. These origins can be traced back to the Jomon period, when people hunted, fished, and gathered food. The wisdom of Jomon people has not completely disappeared, and still lives as an essence in the traditional life skills of farming and mountain villages and entertainment performed in nature. Knowing this "wisdom of the outdoors" is useful for selecting actions during emergencies, as well as for providing insights on the essential relationship between nature and human beings and how to think about a sustainable society.

【Course Contents】

We will focus on commentary on slides. We will circulate actual samples according to the theme, and plan to hear more specialized stories from guest speakers. "Outdoor" in this class refers to techniques and wisdom in general that use nature well, and is not a place to learn individual leisure techniques such as how to put up a tent or barbecue methods. In addition, we deal with "life" a lot. While we will use images that may be unpleasant when we cover hunting, etc., it is an unavoidable theme to look back on human activities, so please be aware of this.
