The goal of this course is for students to understand Christianity within the context of world and Asian history, especially its reception and development in Japan and other Asian nations.
In this course, students will delve into the history of the development of Christianity in Japan and other Asian nations. The course will focus on the development of Christianity in early modern and modern Japan, taking into account the global historical background to the missionary movement in Japan. By directing attention to the reception and development of Christianity in other Asian regions, we will consider the spread of Christianity while capturing the characteristics of each region and time period.

世界史・アジア史のなかでキリスト教を捉え、特に日本及びアジア諸地域でのキリスト教の受容と展開について理解する。
The goal of this course is for students to understand Christianity within the context of world and Asian history, especially its reception and development in Japan and other Asian nations.
日本及びアジア諸地域で、キリスト教が展開してきた歴史を学びます。日本布教に至る世界史的背景を踏まえたうえで、近世・近代日本において受容されたキリスト教の展開について中心的に取り上げます。アジア諸地域での受容と展開にも目を向けることで、それぞれの地域・時代における特徴を捉えつつ、キリスト教の広がりを考えます。
