In this course, we will examine various issues related to the ethics and bioethics found in present day society. Students will identify, assess, and consider the issues, ascertaining from where they arise while identifing their points of view on the matters. This course aims to provide an opportunity to express many differing viewpoints.
Questions related to ethics and bioethics, particularly ones relating to "I/me", "we/us", and "life", are questions one is quite likely to have posed to them should they ever discuss the topic. In this course, we will begin by discussing various ethical and bioethical topics relating to these questions in order to identify and consider the issues at hand. Upon doing this, we will identify, consider, and reference the opinions of philosophers and how they relate to the basis of religion. From this, we will develop various viewpoints as we examine what the ideal states of "I/me", "we/us", and "life" should be.
After the class, you will be asked to submit your comments. These comments will be anonymous, and the comments will be shared. This enables students to be exposed to differing viewpoints and helps them to widen their perspective. It is desirable that you participate actively, as the class will involve sharing submitted comments. In addition to discussions between students with different views, and answering questions and comments. The course will proceed by answering the questions and arguments. Topics and material covered are planned to be adjusted based on the students’ interests and current world events.
Additionally, video materials will be used in order to cultivate a better understanding. (It is also planned for students to divide into groups and hold discussions.)

現代社会において見られる倫理／生命倫理的問題について、問題の確認やそれに対する批判・検討を行いながら、それがどこから語られているのか、それを語る自分自身はどのようにあるのか、ということに向き合う視点を持つための足掛かりをつくる。
In this course, we will examine various issues related to the ethics and bioethics found in present day society. 倫理／生命倫理において問われる問題、特に「わたし」「われわれ」「いのち」といった問題は、それを語る自分自身が問われてくる問題でもある。本授業では、先ず、そういった問題について、幾つかの倫理／生命倫理的テーマを扱うことによって確認・検討を行う。その上で、そこで確認・検討した問題に対して、幾人かの哲学者・思想家の見解を確認・検討・参照し、その者たちが語ろうとしているところ―それは〈宗教の源泉〉を感じさせるものであったりする―からどのように向き合っていけるのか、そして「わたし」「われわれ」「いのち」はどのようなあり様をしているのかといったことを考究していく。
なお、授業後に毎回コメントを提出してもらうが、そのコメントペーパーは匿名化した上で皆と共有し、より多くの意見を知ることによって見識を広めてもらうつもりである。また、授業は提出してもらったコメントの紹介や、コメント同士の議論、疑問への応答、コメントへの応答などをしつつ進めていくため、積極的な参加を望む。授業の進行や扱うテーマも、受講者の関心や社会状況などに応じて適宜調整する予定である。
また、理解を深めるために、映像資料も用いるつもりである。（グループに分かれてディスカッションをしてもらうことも考えている。）
