As our daily lives become more complex, we need the intelligence to discern what is truly important. Using experiences in daily life such as school, family, and friendships as clues, students will learn about the kind of thinking that sociology is. The students will also learn about the empirical method of social research, and aim to actually use it to examine daily life. The aim of the class is for students to experience the sociological thinking gained in class as an intellectual and effective tool for expanding the freedom of their own lives.
This lecture will teach you how to think about familiar phenomena and problems that occur in everyday society, using a sociological way of thinking that will lead to solving problems, using video materials from the media.

講義で使用するドキュメンタリー等の映像資料は、過去に公にされているものです。
困難で複雑な状況が描かれていたり、一見「残酷」ととらえられたりするようなシーンもありますが、テーマに照らして提示するものであり、背景を丁寧に説明します。そうした教材がいくつか登場することを理解してください。
また、学習効果の上で必要な範囲で、受講生自身が接してこなかったような立場の意見や資料などを提示することがあります。ご自身の価値観とは合わないものもあると思いますが、単に好き嫌いではなく、学問的な真理に到達するために必要なものと考えてください。履修登録・受講にあたっては、そうした点を了承しておいてください。

私たちの日常生活が複雑さを増すなかで、何が本当に大切かを見分ける知性が求められています。学校、家族、友人関係など日常生活の経験を糸口にして、社会学とはどんな考え方をする学問であるのかを学んでいきます。また社会調査という実証の方法についても学び、実際にそれを活かして日常生活を検証してみることを目標とします。講義内で得られた社会学的思考は、自分の生き方の自由度を広げていくための知的で有効なアイテムとして実感できることを講義のねらいとしています。

この講義は、日常の社会で起きている身近な現象や問題について、メディアの映像資料等を用いながら、社会学的な思考方法を通して問題解決に繋がるような思考方法を身に付けられるようにします。
