1) In this lecture, I will introduce the themes and political ideas that political science has dealt with, and consider two political principles, liberalism and democracy, and two concepts of freedom. 2) Through writing reports and mutual evaluations between students, this course aims to strengthen the basic writing skills that are a necessity of every student. 3) Through the objectives described above, I would like to train people who can think on their own about various problems in modern society and who try to express their ideas in their own words.
This course is not a lecture to watch movies dealing with politics. Also, it is not a course where you can easily take credits. Rather, this is a type of lecutre that uses movies as an auxiliary line to understand the main themes and basic concepts of political science, and by doing so, considers various problems in modern society.
The lecture will begin by reviewing the characteristics of the political principle known as liberalism and its view of freedom. However, the freedom that liberalism sought to realize gave birth to capitalism, and it created an alienating situation in which human beings themselves are at the mercy of capitalism. Next, I would like to introduce the attempts at rebellion by young people that took place intensively in the late 1960s in an attempt to overcome this situation of alienation, namely, university protests and the countercultural protest movement. But many of the young people's attempts to protest have been unsuccessful. I would now like to analyze the reasons for this failure in light of the political principles of democracy. I would also like to confirm that within a democratic political system, the two political principles of liberalism and democracy function to check each other and compensate for each other's shortcomings.
The aim of this lecture is to examine the interaction between the two political principles contained within democracy. In addition, this is a course that places emphasis on "output," requiring students to think independently about the topic of a short report and then write it down. Since only two credits will be received, in terms of the efficiency of acquiring credits, this course has poor "cost performance or time performance". But I think this course will be a good opportunity for those who want to deepen their own thoughts and value expressing them to others.

| 講義で提示するテーマで小レポートを4回執筆し、執筆した小レポートを学生同士で4回相互評価します。 |
この講義では、学生が書いた小レポートを学生同士で批評し合う課題が複数回設定されています。まず、履修者は、講義レジュメの中で提示されたテーマで小レポートを4回執筆しなければなりません。提出した小レポートは履修者全員に公開されますので、他人が読むことを前提にしたしっかりとした内容の文章を書く必要があります。次に、他の履修者のレポートを5～10枚ほど読んだ上で、レポート評価シートを2枚作成する課題も4回行います。作成したレポート評価シートはレポート執筆者の手に渡りますので、レポート内容を踏まえた誠実なコメントを書かなければなりません。
以上からもわかるように、他者に対して責任の取れる文章を書こうとする姿勢と、そのための執筆時間が、この講義では求められています。ですので、楽して単位を取りたい学生の履修は、ご遠慮願います。

1．政治学が扱ってきたテーマや政治思想を紹介しながら、この講義では、リベラリズムとデモクラシーという二つの政治原理と二つの自由の考え方について考えていきたいと思います。2．小レポートの作成と学生同士の相互評価を通じて、学生にとって必要となる基礎的な文章能力の向上を図ります。3．以上の目標を通じて、現代社会の諸問題について自ら考え、自分の言葉で表現しようとする人間を育てたいと思います。
1) In this lecture, I will introduce the themes and political ideas that political science has dealt with, and consider two political principles, liberalism and democracy, and two concepts of freedom. 2) Through writing reports and mutual evaluations between students, this course aims to strengthen the basic writing skills that are a necessity of every student. 3) Through the objectives described above, I would like to train people who can think on their own about various problems in modern society and who try to express their ideas in their own words.
この講義は、政治を扱った映画を見る講義ではありません。また「楽単」と呼ばれるような講義でもありません。政治学の主要テーマや基本概念を理解するための補助線として映画を利用しつつ、現代社会が抱える様々な問題について考えていくタイプの講義です。
講義は、まずリベラリズムという政治原理の特徴とその自由観について確認することから始まります。しかし、リベラリズムが実現しようとした自由は資本主義を生み出し、資本主義によって人間自身が翻弄されていくという疎外的な状況を生み出しました。次に、このような疎外的状況を克服するために1960年代末に集中的に行われた若者たちの反乱の試み、すなわち大学闘争やカウンター・カルチュアの異議申し立て運動を紹介したいと思います。ですが、若者たちの異議申し立ての試みは、その多くが失敗に終わりました。その失敗の原因を、今度はデモクラシーの政治原理と照らし合わせながら分析してみたいと思います。そして、民主主義という政治体制の中でリベラリズムとデモクラシーという二つの政治原理が、相互に牽制し合うと共に、その問題点を補い合うように作用していることを確認したいと思います。
このように、民主主義の中に含まれる二つの政治原理の相互作用について考察していくことが、この講義のねらいです。また、小レポートのテーマについて自ら考え、それを文章として書くことが求められる「出力」重視の講義です。得られる単位は２単位だけなので、単位取得効率の点から言えば、はなはだ「コスパ／タイパ」の悪い講義ですが、自らの考えを深め、それを他者に向けて表現していくことに習熟したい学生には、良い練習の機会になると思います。
