1) While introducing themes and political ideas handled by political science, this course aims to deepen student's understanding of various problems in modern society. 2) Through writing reports and mutual evaluations between students, this course aims to strengthen the basic writing skills that are a necessity of every student. 3) Through the objectives described above, I would like to train people who can think on their own about various problems in modern society and who try to express their ideas in their own words.
This course is not a lecture to watch movies dealing with politics. Also, it is not a course where you can easily take credits. Rather, this is a type of lecutre that uses movies as an auxiliary line to understand the main themes and basic concepts of political science, and by doing so, considers various problems in modern society.
This year's lectures will focus on critically considering the reality of the limitations of our world, which is said to be "free" and which in fact appears to be "free."
The lecture will begin with Machiavelli of the European Renaissance, and then examine the relationship between the Protestant faith, the political principles of liberalism, and the spirit of capitalism. After introducing the political and economic theories of liberalism by Locke and Smith, the class moves on to Marx's critique of capitalism. As a topic for the 20th century, we will look at the conflict between the welfare state, which sought to realize substantial freedom by guaranteeing the right to life and social rights, and neo-liberalism, which called for people to live freely through self-help and personal responsibility without relying on the government. We will also introduce Weber's criticism of bureaucracy, Fromm's psychological analysis of the masses that gave rise to Nazism, and Foucault's critical analysis of the power techniques that cultivate people who are convenient for those in power. Finally, I would like to discuss Arendt, who emphasized the importance of continuing to think in order to resist totalitarianism.
In this way, the aim of this lecture is to develop students' perspective on society by addressing such important themes when thinking about modern society. The lectures also emphasize "output," requiring students to think for themselves and write their thoughts down. Since only two credits will be received, in terms of the efficiency of acquiring credits, this course has poor "cost performance or time performance". But I think it will be good training for those who want to deepen their own thoughts and value expressing them to others.

| 学生同士によるレポートの相互評価 |
この講義では、学生が書いた小レポートを学生同士で相互に批評し合う課題が複数回設定されています。
まず、履修者は、講義レジュメの中で提示されたテーマで小レポートを4回執筆しなければなりません。提出した小レポートは履修者全員に公開されますので、他人が読むことを前提にしたしっかりとした内容の文章を書く必要があります。次に、他の履修者のレポートを5～10枚ほど読んだ上で、レポート評価シートを2枚作成する課題も4回行います。作成したレポート評価シートはレポート執筆者の手に渡りますので、レポートの内容を踏まえたしっかりとしたコメントを書かなければなりません。
以上からもわかるように、他者に対して責任の取れる文章を書こうとする姿勢と、そのための執筆時間が、この講義では求められます。ですので、楽して単位を取りたい学生には、不向きな講義です。

今年度の「法と政治の世界」は、笠井が秋期に講義する「政治と社会」と連続した内容になっています。「政治と社会」の方も併せて履修していただけると、さらに理解が深まるかと思います。また、笠井が担当する「法と政治の世界」の講義は、今年度が最後です。お見逃しのないように。
学びの精神科目
1．政治学が扱ってきたテーマや政治思想を紹介しながら、現代社会が抱える様々な問題について理解を深めていきたいと思います。 2．小レポートの作成と学生同士の相互評価を通じて、学生にとって必要となる基礎的な文章能力の向上を図ります。 3．以上の目標を通じて、現代社会の諸問題について自ら考え、自分の言葉で表現しようとする人間を育てたいと思います。

この講義は、政治を扱った映画を見る講義ではありません。また「楽単」と呼ばれるような講義でもありません。政治学の主要テーマや基本概念を理解するために、その理解の補助線として映画を利用し、そうすることで現代社会が抱える様々な問題について考えていくタイプの講義です。
今年の講義は、「自由」であると言われ、実際「自由」であるかのように思える私たちの世界の不自由な現実を批判的に考えていこうと思います。
講義はまず、ヨーロッパ・ルネサンス期のマキアヴェッリから始まり、次にプロテスタンティズムの信仰と、リベラリズムの政治原理及び資本主義の精神との関連性について確認します。そしてロックやスミスによるリベラリズムの政治理論と経済理論を紹介した後、マルクスによる資本主義批判へと授業は進んでいきます。20世紀のトピックとしては、生存権・社会権を保障することで実質的な自由を実現しようとした福祉国家と、政府に頼ることなく自助努力・自己責任で自由に生きることを求めるネオ・リベラリズムとの対立を取り上げます。また、ヴェーバーによる官僚制批判、フロムによるナチズムを生み出した大衆の心理分析、フーコーによる権力にとって都合のよい人間を育てていく権力技術への批判的分析についても紹介します。最後に、全体主義に抵抗するために思考し続けることの大切さを説いたアーレントを取り上げてみたいと思います。
このように現代社会を考える上で重要なテーマを取り上げることで、学生自身の社会を視る眼を育てていくことが、この講義のねらいです。また、自分で考え、それを文章として書くことが求められる「出力」重視の講義です。得られる単位は2単位だけなので、単位取得効率の点から言えば甚だ「コスパ／タイパ」の悪い講義ですが、自分の考えを深め、それを他者に向けて表現していくことを大切にしたい人には、良い訓練になると思います。
