The goal of this course is to acquire basic knowledge of sociology, find social problems from a democratic perspective, and seek social solutions.
This course examines social changes occurring on a global scale, This course focuses on people's lives and civil society's efforts due to these macro changes with the concepts of inequality, poverty, human rights, and gender equality.

| ※Assigned readings and audiovisual materials will be in English, lectures will be conducted in Japanese. All students are required to make a presentation (individual or group, depending on the class size) at least once during the semester. The presentation should be conducted in English, those who want to present in Japanese should consult the instructor in advance. 英語のテキストや視聴覚教材を用いるが、講義は日本語で行う。受講人数によって、個人あるいはグループによる発表を学期中に全員1回は行う。発表で使用する言語は英語を推奨する。日本語で行う場合には、事前に教員に相談すること。 |
All the students are expected to come to class having read all the assigned readings and ready to actively participate in discussions. In order to stimulate discussions and deepen one’s understanding of the material, students may be required to conduct supplementary research. Students are encouraged to follow daily news and keep up with current affairs.
事前に課題文献に目を通し、授業内でのディスカッションやグループワーク等に積極的に参加できるよう準備をしてくることが期待される。個人・グループ発表に向けて、授業時間外に自主的な学びが必要となることがある。授業では時事的な話題に言及するので、日常的にニュースや新聞に目を通す習慣をつけることを推奨する。

英語力は問わないが、英語「で」時事問題や政策的な課題を理解し、自らの言葉で論じる意欲があることを求める。
Class material, comment papers, presentation material are all to be submitted via Canvas LMS. Thus, students are required to have a PC.
資料配布、課題提出、発表資料の準備のためにPCが必要となる。
しょうがいを持つ学生については、その様態と程度に応じて、履修に支障がない配慮を行いたい。さらに、授業アンケートの結果に即して、必要に応じた授業改善を行うように努めたい。

この授業の目標は、社会学に関する基礎的な知識を習得し、民主主義の視点から社会の課題を見つけ、社会的な解決策を模索することにある。

この授業では、グローバルな規模で起きる社会変動について検討したうえで、こうしたマクロな変動による人々の生活の変化と市民社会の取り組みを格差、貧困、人権、ジェンダー平等の概念を中心に考えていく。
