This course aims to learn that university study is the basis for understanding social reality and identifying issues. The course also provide students with the perspectives, attitudes, and basic skills to engage with and work on social issues through a service learning (citizenship education) approach.
This course is offered as part of the Rikkyo Service Learning (RSL) program. The first half of the course focuses on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of Rikkyo University's history, founding principles, and the role and significance of service learning within the university community.
In the latter half of the course, students will critically examine the question "What is peace?" by reflecting on their role as members of society and exploring potential ways to contribute to the creation of a better future. Through the analysis of diverse social challenges—ranging from macro-level perspectives of international society to micro-level perspectives of local governance—students will develop a multifaceted understanding of their interconnections with society.

学びの精神科目
本科目は、担当教員の実務経験、または実務に従事するゲスト・スピーカーの招聘講義等を活かした授業である。
大学での学習が、社会の現実を理解し、また課題を発見するための基礎であることを学ぶ。また課題を解決するために、社会の課題に関わり、活動する視点と態度を習得することを目標とする。
This course aims to learn that university study is the basis for understanding social reality and identifying issues. The course also provide students with the perspectives, attitudes, and basic skills to engage with and work on social issues through a service learning (citizenship education) approach.
この科目は立教サービスラーニング(RSL)科目群のひとつとして開講する。授業の前半は「大学生の学び」の領域として、本学学生にとって4年間を過ごすコミュニティである立教大学の歴史、建学の精神や、サービスラーニングの役割と位置付けなどを理解する。
授業の後半は、「平和とは何か」という問いから、社会の一員としての自分を見つめ、自らがよりよい社会の実現のためにどのようなコミットメントができるのかを考える。大小様々な社会課題を取り上げることで、国際社会のようなマクロの視点から、地方自治体のようなミクロの視点まで、自分自身と社会とのつながりを多角的に捉える。それぞれの課題の解決に向けてアクションを起こすために貪欲に学び、またその学びを言語化すること、可視化する姿勢を重視する。
