The main objective of this course is to learn some basic concepts for intercultural communication studies and to develop the ability to analyze issues in contemporary society from newly gained perspectives. Additionally, students will be able to cultivate a proactive learning attitude for subsequent university studies through scholarly activities. These include (i) preparing for discussions with pre-class readings and engaging in discussions with peers who hold different perspectives, and (ii) actively seeking knowledge and sharing it with peers through presentations.
In this course, we will start by exploring fundamental terminology and concepts related to intercultural communication. This process aims to broaden perspectives and cultivate the ability to critically examine phenomena from various viewpoints. Topics covered include globalization and communication, culture, language, non-verbal communication, identity, media, intercultural contact, stereotypes/racism/ethnocentrism, and intercultural communication competence. Throughout the course, activities such as presentations, group discussions, and peer feedback will be conducted. Through engaging discussions with peers and the instructor, students will articulate their thoughts and enhance their understanding by considering various perspectives. Ultimately, each student will read relevant literature and present their findings during roundtable presentations. Support will be available throughout the course to facilitate autonomous learning.

①リーディング課題（毎回）：教科書の指定範囲を授業当日までに読んでくることを、予習として求められます。各自、1つ以上の質問または議論を深めるための問いを作っておきます。なお、授業開始時に小テストは、このリーディングをもとに行われます。テストの目的は、各自が自分の理解を確認するためで、用語の定義を中心に出題されます。
②発展ディスカッションの準備（複数回）：当番の人は、授業範囲で自分が最も関心のあるトピックについて身近な例を取り上げて議論するための資料（パワーポイントスライド、記事・動画・写真・ナラティブなど）とディスカッション・クエスチョンを準備します。ディスカッションはグループで行います。
②振り返りログ（毎回）：授業で得られた気づきや学びを言語化し、オンライン提出します。
③ラウンドテーブル発表の準備（1回）：教科書の内容のうち自分がさらに学びを深めたいテーマについて、短いラウンドテーブル発表を行います。関連文献を読み、理解を深め、そこから自らの研究の問いを立てることを目指します。

学びの精神科目
本科目は、担当教員の実務経験、または実務に従事するゲスト・スピーカーの招聘講義等を活かした授業である。
本授業の目標は、異文化コミュニケーションを学ぶうえでの基礎的な概念を学び、新たに得た視点から現代社会の様々な問題を複眼的に捉えることができるようになることです。
また、本授業で、①予習をしてディスカッションに備え、自分とは異なる考えや視点を持つ他者と議論をする、②知識を主体的に学び、成果を仲間に発表するという学術的な活動を通して、その後の大学での主体的な学びの姿勢を涵養することもねらいとしています。
The main objective of this course is to learn some basic concepts for intercultural communication studies and to develop the ability to analyze issues in contemporary society from newly gained perspectives. Additionally, students will be able to cultivate a proactive learning attitude for subsequent university studies through scholarly activities. These include (i) preparing for discussions with pre-class readings and engaging in discussions with peers who hold different perspectives, and (ii) actively seeking knowledge and sharing it with peers through presentations.
本授業ではまず、異文化コミュニケーションを学ぶうえでの基礎的な用語や概念を学びます。これにより、視野を広げ、現象を異なる視点からクリティカルに見る力を養います。たとえば、グローバリゼーションと多文化社会コミュニケーション、文化、言語、非言語、アイデンティティ、メディア、異文化接触、コミュニケーションの阻害要因、異文化コンピテンスなど、多様なテーマを取り上げます。
授業では、グループディスカッションやピアフィードバックを行います。仲間や教員との議論を通して自分の思考を言語化し、また他者の多様な考えを聞くことで考察を深めます。最終的には、関連文献を読み、自分の考察をまとめてラウンドテーブル発表をすることを目指し、各自が自律的に深い学びを追求できるよう支援します。
