In this course, we will examine various literary and visual works from the standpoint of the relationship between the author and Christianity, or between the work itself and Christianity.
The goal of this course is to identify and analyze Christian elements embedded in these works, thereby broadening students’ perspectives on literature.
We will deal with works that are well known in Japan and examine them from the following three perspectives:
1.Works containing Christian motifs created by authors who are not Christians.
2.Works created by Christian authors that are not widely recognized as Christian literature.
3.Works created by Christian authors that are widely regarded as Christian literature.
Through these works, students will review relevant background information and identify notable quotations, biblical references, and Christian motifs contained within them.

作者自身とキリスト教、あるいは作品そのものとキリスト教との関係に注目し、文学作品や映像作品を読み解く。
文学作品に内在するキリスト教的要素を読み解く視点を獲得し、新たに見出される意味を考察することで、文学理解の幅を広げることを目標とする。

本授業では、我が国でもよく知られた文学作品・映像作品を取り上げ、以下の三つの観点から考察を行う。
① 作者がキリスト者ではないが、作品中にキリスト教的モチーフが見られるもの
② 作者がキリスト者でありながら、「キリスト教文学」としては広く認識されていないもの
③ 作者がキリスト者であり、「キリスト教文学」と呼ばれているもの
これらの作品について、成立背景を確認するとともに、作品中の名言、聖書の引用、キリスト教的モチーフを読み解く試みを行う。
We will deal with works that are well known in Japan and examine them from the following three perspectives:
