This course aims to assist students in having a sharp understanding of ideologies, institutions, customs and artifacts in our days and their origins as well as the tensions and conflicts (and the possibility of coexistence) between them, through studying the outline of the history of the so-called Abrahamic religions and the basic contents of their respective doctrines and practices.
First, we shall address the question of what is homo religiosus, considering what kinds of approaches are applicable to various religious phenomena, and then place monotheism in the history of religion in general. In the remainder of the course, we shall learn the formative process of Judaism, Christianity and Islam as independent systems, all of which share the religion of the ancient Israelites as the common roots, and how the monotheistic tradition evolved from the Middle Ages to modernity.

専門知識は必要ありませんが、所々で高度な内容にも踏み込むことが予想されるので、集中して聴講してください。旺盛な知的好奇心と高い問題意識、そして相異なる複数の考え方を並列的に吟味する柔軟な批判精神を重視したいと思います。
授業時間外の学習や最終試験に関する指示などに使用するので、Canvas LMSに何らかの手段でアクセスできることが望ましいです。
授業自体は通常の講義方式で行いますが、テクスト読解やディスカッションに重点を置くことで、主体的な参加 を促すつもりです。
視聴覚教材を積極的に活用する予定です。
授業中や授業前後の質問・反論・コメント等を大いに歓迎します。

学びの精神科目
近年は「アブラハムの宗教」とも呼ばれるいわゆる一神教の歴史と教義の核心を学ぶことで、現代世界の土台をなす様々な制度・慣習・イデオロギーなどの意味と由来、そしてそれらの間に現実に横たわる緊張と対立（さらには共存の可能性）についてより深く理解できるようになることを、本コースの目標として定めます。

初回では、宗教的人間（homo religiosus）という概念の考察を皮切りに、世界宗教史全体の中に一神教伝統を位置付けてみます。その後、古代イスラエルの宗教という共通の起源からユダヤ教・キリスト教・イスラーム教が独立した宗教システムとして成立していった過程を学んでいきます。その上で、中世から現代にまで至る一神教の流れを概観します。
