In view of its significant historical impact and persistent presence, a deep understanding of so-called monotheism, represented by Judaism, Christianity and Islam, is a desideratum for living in the contemporary international society, where various religious traditions intersect. In this course, the peculiarity and universality of monotheistic religions will be put into relief through comparison with non-monotheistic religious trends, while they will be placed in the entire history of humanity.
In each session we will pick up a specific topic, and in the former part of the class, after presenting a theoretical frame from a point of view of the study of religion, we will survey different examples from non-monotheistic religions. In the latter part of the class, we will delve into an in-depth analysis of similar phenomena in monotheism and investigate what makes it peculiar and at the same time how it reflects common structural patterns of homo religiosus.

専門知識は必要ありませんが、所々で高度な内容にも踏み込むことが予想されるので、集中して聴講してください。旺盛な知的好奇心と高い問題意識、そして相異なる複数の考え方を並列的に吟味する柔軟な批判精神を重視したいと思います。
授業時間外の学習や最終試験に関する指示などに使用するので、Canvas LMSに何らかの手段でアクセスできることが望ましいです。
授業自体は通常の講義方式で行いますが、テクスト読解やディスカッションに重点を置くことで、主体的な参加 を促すつもりです。
視聴覚教材を積極的に活用する予定です。

学びの精神科目
多様な宗教伝統が交錯する今日の国際社会を生きていく上で、その歴史的影響力の大きさと未だ衰えぬ存在感の観点から、ユダヤ教・キリスト教・イスラーム教に代表されるいわゆる一神教の深い理解は必須であるといえます。本コースでは、一神教の特異性と普遍性を非一神教との比較を通じて浮き彫りにし、さらには人類史全体の中に位置付けることを目指します。

毎回、特定のトピックを取り上げ、授業の前半では宗教学的考察のための理論的枠組みを提示した上で、一神教以外の宗教からの具体例を概観します。後半では、一神教に分類される諸宗教における類似現象を分析し、何が一神教を固有なもの足らしめているか、また一神教が如何に「宗教的人間」に共通する構造パターンを反映しているかを探求していきます。
