政治を理解するために主要国の政治制度の理解を深める。
In order to understand politics, students will deepen their understandings of the political systems of principal countries.
政治を理解しようとするには様々なやり方があるが、政治制度を知るというのは一つの重要な方法だろう。主要国、なかんづく我が国の制度は社会に出ても必須となる基本的知識といえる。議院内閣制や大統領制、小選挙区制や比例代表制といった制度を各国は組み合わせているが、運用の仕方が異なり、一様ではない。本講義では主要国の制度を踏まえつつ、それと比較しながら我が国の制度に関する知識を獲得するものとする。それに関する最新の情報を英米の新聞を使って読んでみたい。受講者にワン・センテンスづつ訳してもらうことを想定している。
There are many methods through which one can attempt to understand politics, and comprehending various political systems is an important one of them. Basic knowledge of the political systems of the principal countries, particularly Japan, is a necessity once one ventures out into society. Each country employs a combination of parliamentary and presidential systems as well as single-seat constituency systems and proportionate representation systems. Each country’s implementation of these systems varies, with no two counties being identical. In this course, students will receive a grounding in the systems of the principal countries, which will be used to learn about the system utilized in Japan through comparison.
