As historical products, all societies, including universities, are shaped by the specific policies and political climates of their time. By the end of this module, students will be able to critically analyze the historical development of Rikkyo University.
It has been 150 years since Channing Moore Williams established Rikkyo School in Tsukiji, Tokyo. In this module, we will explore the history of Rikkyo University, including biographical stories of its foreign teachers.

われわれの生きる社会が歴史的生成物であるように、大学もまた時代状況に左右されながらそのあり方を変えてきた。本講義では、「立教」のあゆみを振り返ることで、立教大学の歴史を批判的かつ歴史学的に考察する力をつけることを目標とする。

アメリカ聖公会宣教師チャニング・ムーア・ウィリアムズによる開校以来、「立教」は150年の歴史を有している。本講義では立教を開拓した宣教師たちの伝記を繙きながら、そのあゆみを紹介する。
