This course aims to enhance the foundational liberal education that underpins citizens who continue to develop as professionals, by examining the workings of human society from multiple perspectives and deepening understanding of the essence of humanity. Lecturers from a range of specialized fields are invited, and through lectures, audiovisual materials, and discussions, students cultivate critical thinking skills. In the current academic year, the course is offered under the theme “Questioning Liberal Education,” exploring the nature and role of liberal education through diverse perspectives drawn from history, sociology, education, and related disciplines.
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to achieve the following learning outcomes:
To develop the ability to objectively observe a single phenomenon from multiple viewpoints, thereby exploring and critically examining various aspects of human activity.
To cultivate an attitude of actively and independently deepening one’s own liberal education grounded in one’s area of professional expertise.
To acquire the motivation and disposition to incorporate reflective practice into one’s way of life, in order to continue growing as a professional who is not constrained by the boundaries of a single specialized field.
In order to achieve the stated learning objectives of this course, instruction is delivered with the involvement of invited guest lecturers. The course is designed to provide students with opportunities to engage critically and reflectively with the concept of liberal education, and to exchange perspectives with peers, thereby fostering their development as professionals grounded in both specialized expertise and broad intellectual cultivation.
Furthermore, with regard to the “reaction papers” submitted at the conclusion of each lecture, comprehensive feedback is provided to the class as a whole.

この科目は、専門職業人として成長し続ける市民の基盤を成す教養を高めるために、人間社会の営みをさまざまな角度から探究し、人間性の本質への理解を深めることを目的とする。各専門分野から講師を招き、講義、映像視聴、ディスカッション等を通して、思考力を身につける。今年度は「教養を問う」をテーマとして開講し、歴史学、社会学、教育学等の多様な論点から教養のあり方について考える。
・ひとつの事象をさまざまな視座から客観的に観察することにより、人間の営みについて探求し、それらについて考察できるようになる。
・自らの専門性に立つ教養を自ら深めようとする態度を身につける。
・専門分野の知識に縛られない専門職者として成長し続けるために、省察的な実践を自らの生きかたに
取り入れようとする動機づけと態度を身につける。

本授業の到達目標を達成するために、特別講師を招聘しながら授業を進める。受講生自身が「専門性に立つ教養人」として成長していくために、教養について深く考え、それらを分かちあう機会を提供する。
なお、毎回の講義終了後に提出を求める「リアクションペーパー」について、全体向けにフィードバックを行う。
