Notes 本科目は、実技だけでなく、授業全体の約3分の1を講義で実施し、スポーツへの理解を深める。

【Course Objectives】

Awa Odori is a representative dance festival originated from bon dance in Tokushima city. The aim of this course is to help students easily practice Awa Odori and understand the essence of Awa Odori and how Awa Odori transformed according to tourism policy.
This course also shows many examples how Awa Odori has been transfused with foreign cultures.

【Course Contents】

Awa Odori is a representative dance festival originated from bon dance in Tokushima city.
It has ca. 400 years of history.
The aim of this course is to help students easily practice Awa Odori, and understand
the essence of Awa Odori and how Awa Odori transformed according to tourism policy.
This course also shows many examples how Awa Odori transfused with other cultures.

補足事項 (Supplementary Items)
All classes are held in a classroom and on dance floor. Students come to the classroom first.
全ての授業は教室(演習室)とダンスフロアで行います。履修生はまず教室(演習室)に集合してください。

【授業時間外(予習・復習等)の学修 / Study Required Outside of Class】

提出課題:「創作囃子詞」(自分のオリジナルな囃子詞)を創る。
Assignment to be submitted: Creation of original cheering words

推奨課題:1 日1分の自主練習 
Homework Recommended: Practice of Awa Odori Dance for 1 minute a day at home

授業における説明と指示は英語で行い留学生と一緒に活動するため、基本的な英語力と話す姿勢が求められる
Basic English ability and attitude to actively communicate with international students are required.

ダンス経験は問わない
No dance experience is necessary.

【学生が準備すべき機器等 / Equipment, etc., that Students Should Prepare】

運動に適した服装, 室内シューズ, 蓋つき容器に入れた飲み物
clothes suitable for exercise, indoor shoes, some water(contained in a bottle with a lid)

演習室とダンスフロアは飲食禁止です(蓋つき容器からの水分摂取は可能)
You cannot eat in a classroom or on dance floor (you can get some water from a container with a lid)

【注意事項 / Notice】

1. Unless otherwise directed by the instructor in charge, change of clothing should be done in the locker rooms of the Paul Rusch Athletics Center (Ikebukuro Campus) / Niiza Gymnasium (Niiza Campus). Practical training will start from the first lesson, so please prepare clothes and shoes appropriate for exercise and attend the class. Dedicated shoes should be prepared for classes held in indoor facilities.

2. As the place of the training may differ from the usual place depending on the weather, etc., confirm the location on the bulletin board at the entrance of the Paul Rusch Athletics Center (Ikebukuro Campus) / the entrance of the gymnasium (Niiza Campus) before the class regardless of whether it is held indoor or outdoor.

3. Be sure to have an annual health checkup in April of the current academic year.
 *After the health checkup, the Health Center will stamp a “済” seal (a seal that certifies that the health checkup has been taken) on your student commuter pass certificate. Show that when you attend the first class.
 *If you have yet not taken an annual health checkup, please check the Additional Health Checkup page of the Health Center and take actions as soon as possible, as it will hinder your participation in class.

4. Take care to avoid injuries and accidents during practical training and follow any instructions given by the instructor.
