This course aims to cultivate the ability to negotiate with people from various cultural backgrounds while developing the French language skills to be active in a global society in the future.
Using CEFR B2 level materials, students will acquire foundational skills in translating and interpreting from French to Japanese. Working with texts such as travel information articles, brochures, newspaper articles, news, and literary works, they will explore nuances based on context, meaning gaps between languages, and challenges arising from cultural and social background differences in translation and interpretation. This approach will involve not only accurately understanding the meaning in French but also considering how best to convey it in Japanese.

将来、グローバル社会で活躍するために必要なフランス語の運用能力の育成を目指しながら、多様な文化背景を持つ人々の仲介を言語を介してできるような力を養うことを目標とする。

CEFR B2レベルの教材を使用し、フランス語から日本語に翻訳・通訳する基礎となる技術を身に付ける。旅行関係の情報記事、パンフレット、新聞記事、ニュース、文学作品などを題材に、場面や状況に応じたニュアンスの違い、言語間での意味のギャップ、そして文化や社会的背景の位相に起因する翻訳・通訳で生じる問題についても扱う。フランス語の意味を正しく理解するだけでなく、どのような日本語に置き換えるべきかについても考える。
