【Course Objectives】

The objective of this course is to develop advanced academic English skills necessary for studying abroad and achieving a high score on the IELTS Academic examination. Through integrated practice of writing, speaking, reading, and listening skills, students will strengthen their ability to analyze academic topics, construct logical arguments, and communicate ideas clearly and confidently in English. The course aims to enhance students’ academic language use, critical thinking, and fluency in order to prepare them for university-level study in an English-medium environment.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

analyze and evaluate academic issues commonly found in IELTS tasks;

produce well-structured IELTS Writing Task 1 and Task 2 responses at an advanced level;

express and justify opinions fluently in IELTS Speaking Parts 2 and 3;

apply effective reading and listening strategies to comprehend academic texts and lectures;

use a wide range of academic vocabulary and complex grammatical structures accurately.

【Course Contents】

This course focuses on advanced preparation for the IELTS Academic examination within a CLIL framework. Students will develop academic writing skills through IELTS Writing Task 1 (data description and comparison) and Writing Task 2 (argumentative essays). Speaking skills will be developed through IELTS Speaking Parts 2 and 3, with emphasis on extended responses, abstract discussion, and critical evaluation. Reading and listening skills will be practiced through IELTS-style academic texts and lectures, which will serve as input for writing and speaking tasks. Academic topics such as education, technology, globalization, culture, health, and environmental issues will be used as content to support language development and higher-order thinking skills.
