【Course Objectives】

In terms of content goals, by the end of the course students will be able to:
1.follow lectures, discussions, digital media, texts, and presentations about ecology and global environmental issues.
2.critically evaluate and synthesize information from a variety of sources.
3.present findings in a clear, concise, and audience-appropriate manner.

In terms of language goals, by the end of the course students will be able to:
1.appropriately use a range of technical vocabulary, expressions, and concepts to describe and exemplify ecological issues and their solutions globally.
2.respond to and ask follow-up questions probing for more detail during discussion.
3.express opinions about ecological issues and solutions.

【Course Contents】

This course aims to create an awareness of and concern about ecology and its associated environmental issues, with the goal for students to discuss these issues, as they pertain both locally and globally, and present possible solutions in English. Through collaborative learning and problem solving, students will discover the extent of these current global ecological challenges, the impacts they have in different regions, and our own personal responsibility. Students will also acquire critical thinking skills and appropriate English expressions to effectively communicate these ecological issues through discussion and presentations.

At Rikkyo University, students are required to spend 45 hours of study (including class time) per credit.
Please prepare for classes and review the materials accordingly.

Detailed instructions for explorative learning will be provided to students on Canvas LMS after registration for the course has been completed. About 4 hours of preparation and review are required for each class.
