言語自由科目 グローバル・スタディーズ領域 |
This course provides students with basic academic knowledge in the humanities, with a particular focus on Japanese culture and society. The course also aims to help students improve their language learning strategies and academic skills (note-taking, annotating, vocabulary, surveying, critical thinking, discussion, presentation, etc.).
Each week, students will learn a new academic concept by reading an assigned text. A mini-lecture on each week’s topic will be given by the instructor, followed by group discussions to help students better understand the topic. Key topics include Japanese communication styles (aimai), Japanese social structures (senpai–kohai), and traditional Japanese arts (the tea ceremony).
After studying each theme, students will give a presentation to demonstrate their understanding of the content.
