【Course Objectives】

The content goals of this class are:
1. To enable students to follow lectures, discussions, and presentations in war history.
2. To understand and respond to detailed descriptions of subjects and issues related to war history.
3. To be able to synthesize information from historical sources and present the findings in a clear and concise manner.

The language goals of this class are:
4. To be able to appropriately use a range of technical vocabulary, expressions, and concepts common to the Pacific War history.
5. To be able respond and ask follow-up questions probing for more detail during war history-related discussions.
6. To be able to express analytical comments and opinions about war history.

【Course Contents】

This course is designed to inform participants about the causes and effects of the Pacific theater of war during WWII. The major events and battles of the war will be examined as well as the repercussion related to these battles and events. The material will be presented in English and participants will acquire essential language skills to comprehend lectures, videos, and readings. Students will acquire history-related vocabulary and concepts to engage in group discussions to question and evaluate the events and battles that took place in the Pacific War.
